In late August, I gave my predictions of what teams would make the playoffs and where they would finish in the standings. Now that the season has finished, we will take a look at how similar the predictions are!

It’s been a long season in the Major League Baseball, but now it’s time to get ready for the exciting month of October!

The excitement starts on Tuesday, October 3, when the American League Wild Card game will be played in New York when the New York Yankees host the Minnesota Twins.

This is the AL Wild Card Game that was predicted in late August as well. It will be a great game as we get to see two young teams slug it out in what looks to be a great pitching matchup. It will be Ervin Santana versus Luis Severino. Santana will make his ninth postseason start, and Severino will be making his first career postseason start. The winner of this wildcard game will face the first place Cleveland Indians.

The Indians were predicted to finish third in the American League, but they went on a 22-game winning streak and found their way to the top in the American League.

The National League West has three of their five teams in the playoffs, and two of them will be going head to head in the Wild Card Game on Wednesday, October 4.

Ironically, the matchup was predicted in late August for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks to go up against each other to see who will face the other NL West team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Diamondbacks will be hosting the Rockies as the fourth seed. It will be Jon Gray versus Zack Greinke. This will be the 20th time this season these two teams will meet, and we are looking forward to another great pitching matchup!

Let’s not forget about the other teams in the playoffs. Although the biggest eyes will be on the Yankees on Tuesday, every day is MLB day.

We will see the defending World Series Champion, Chicago Cubs, take on the Washington Nationals in what looks to be the best entertaining series.

And then, of course, we will see the rising Astros’ team defend their home against the Boston Red Sox.
