As football kicks off and consumes the sports world, golf’s third leg of the FedEx Cup playoff heads just outside Chicago to the quaint north shore community of Lake Forest, Illinois. This more-than-likely elitist waspish town that inspired F. Scott Fitzgerald to write “The Great Gatsby” features Conway Farms Golf Club which will host the tournament for the third time. Don’t get offended Lake Forest. I aspire to be an elitist wasp one day like you. No more cuts in golf for these last two events so we’ll skip the 7 Under 7 format and review this week’s Draft Kings roster a little differently. With a smaller field of 70 players all selections become even more critical. Precise judgement, laser focus, and keen instincts are required. When the stakes are this high with a razor thin margin of error I do what I do best. I swipe. Let’s do it…

Phil 47, USA $7,300

Hey I’m Phil! Curvy but athletic, awkwardly flirty, and sarcastic AF! If I were a food I’d be lasagna cause I can be fancy but am mostly about comfort. I’m sometimes cheesy, often saucy ; ), and multi-layered. Ideal first date is the casino. 6’3″ I don’t work out.

Lefty just hasn’t been Lefty in 2017. After parting ways with long-time caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay, Mickelson’s play hasn’t been terrible, but he’s struggled to manage high place finishes and bombed out at both majors since the departure. After last month’s 118th place finish at the PGA Championship Phil said enough and knew something needed to be addressed. He didn’t blame the caddie switch, or tweak swing mechanics. He didn’t loath about equipment, or cut down on carbs. Instead, Phil went deeper and searched inward for the answer by consulting a doctor to help him with his focus and energy on the course. One month later Phil found it at last week’s Dell Technologies Championship with a season’s best T6 finish with all four rounds played under par. Timing can mean everything when it comes to relationships. And in DFS it’s just as, if not, more important to catch players on the rise before the market adjusts their value. At that price, Lefty makes for a cheap date with massive upside at Lake Forest. Phil’s Back! Going in all lineups–RIGHT!

Jordan 23, USA $11,800

I’m better than you…

The good ones always know they’re good, don’t they? Spieth is annoyingly good and seems determined to capture his second FedEx Cup title in three years. And why wouldn’t he? The selfish bastard wins every other damn thing! And when he doesn’t win, there’s a solid chance he nets a top 5 finish as he’s done in five of his last nine starts. With a profile like that and boyish good looks Spieth is generally an auto-right, but I have other plans this week if I’m investing at that price. Spiteful left.

Rory 28, Northern Ireland $9,400

I’m the handsome one on the left lol! 50/50 mix of feisty and cuddly. Willing to be big or small spoon. Love going out, but prefer staying in. Looking for something long-term but am open to hookups. Reluctant to be on this thing. Shy so you’ll have to message me first lol! After that I probably won’t stop talking lol! Let’s ride bikes or go to concert! 5′ 10″ love hard play hard.

Huh? Much like his profile, Rory’s game is all over the place. After a T22 at last month’s PGA Championship, McIlroy indicated a nagging rib injury might keep him from even competing in the playoffs. Even though Rory chose to participate he might as well have been a no-call-no-show this year. The Northern Irishman basically admitted he’s checked out mentally after last week’s missed cut at TPC Boston. That’s a steep price to pay for lack of enthusiasm and indecisiveness whether it be in DFS or swiping. I’ll be allocating my funds elsewhere–hard left.

Dustin 33, USA $11,500

That’s me and my baby-mama. We’re in town for the weekend looking for a third for partying and hookups…6’4″

Hmm… Generally I’m all for a little partying and hooking up, but this might be a bit much. DJ’s game has certainly rounded back into form over the last month with four consecutive top 20 finishes including his third win of the season at the FedEx Cup’s first round Northern Trust three weeks ago. However, that and the RBC Canadian Open are the only two times in his last eight starts Johnson was able to put together four rounds under par in the same tournament. That’s a somewhat troubling stat with his price tag. I have another big dog in mind anyway. Soft Left.

Real talk: I’m a straight male, but if that profile scenario actually presented itself I’d have to strongly consider it. Could do worse than DJ for a first experience anyway, right?…

Rickie 28, USA $10,700

I’m the stud in the middle 🙂 Swipe right if you’re into top 10 finishes in five of my last eight starts, fish tacos, amazon prime, leftovers (TV show and actual LOL), ranking 2nd in SG: Putting on tour, dad jokes, singing in the car, being ranked 10th in the world at what I do, being cheaper than Spieth and DJ, and Danny Devito. 5’9″ Swipe left if you clap at movie theaters.

My man love for Rickie can’t be overstated. Whether it’s his orange golf attire or dashing charm I just can’t stay away. If I’m setting a lineup to include chalk this week I’ll save a little and go with the third highest priced player on Draft Kings this week. Considering his game, fashion sense, and my hatred for people applauding in movie theaters we might be soul mates. RIGHT!!!

Patrick 25, USA $8,600

5’10” Take me to bed or lose me forever….

Cantlay continues to be the most under told story on tour this year. I discussed this when I picked him in my PGA Championship preview last month and the former UCLA Bruin has not disappointed. After a T33 at the PGA, Patrick cashed in a T10 and T13 at the first two legs of the FedEx Cup playoffs. With another strong week he’ll likely move inside the top 30 and qualify for his first Tour Championship next week at East Lake. The former top ranked amateur in the world is finally realizing his all-world potential after going through hell on and off the course earlier in his career. Still just 25 years-old, it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through with his first career PGA Tour victory. He’s my dark horse to win this week and will be in all my lineups. Besides, he had me at the Top Gun reference. Hard right!
