As the summer transitions to fall so does the collective sports world’s psyche when all thoughts are consumed by what happened last week, and what’s on the table next. Marriages are strained. Parenting; an after thought. Your job? What job! You won’t need one next week because this is also the time of year where I convince myself every Monday that I’m going to win $1,000,000 dollars on Draft Kings, retire, and live out my days somewhere in my new lake house where the main days’ activity will be pondering the meaning of life. My plan to execute this dream of doing nothing for week one of the NFL season is presented below. Enjoy…

The Filet Lineup

Last year I contributed an article to Gridiron Experts that lays out a general guide for building DFS football lineups. The “filet” is basically when you can’t resist spending your salary cap on stars. The fear of missing out on the inevitable monster David Johnson or Antonio Brown week is almost too much to bear when finalizing your decisions, and visualizing all the champagne you will showering in when they explode. So for those who can’t resist here is your medium rare cuts lineup projected for week one:

Position Name Salary GameInfo Team
QB Brian Hoyer  $  5,100 CAR@SF 04:25PM ET SF
RB David Johnson  $  9,400 ARI@DET 01:00PM ET ARI
RB Jordan Howard  $  6,300 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET CHI
WR Julio Jones  $  8,500 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET ATL
WR A.J. Green  $  8,000 BAL@CIN 01:00PM ET CIN
WR Marquise Goodwin/Kendal Wright  $  3,200 CAR@SF 04:25PM ET SF
TE Zach Ertz  $  3,500 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET PHI
FLEX Austin Hooper  $  3,000 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET ATL
DST Giants  $  2,600 NYG@DAL 08:30PM ET NYG

Johnson might be the juiciest most tender piece this week

The Roast Chicken Lineup

Some investors prefer a more diverse, and risk adverse portfolio with potential upside that matches blue chip stocks. They are able to remain satisfied and believe their strategy is enough to yield just as high returns without the Apples and Goldman Sachs of the world. This is the “roast chicken” approach. LeSean McCoy makes for a great main course in week one at $8,200 while creating the affordability for upscale side dishes of Kirk Cousins and Terrelle Pryor Sr. Here is week one’s projected roast chicken lineup:

Position Name Salary GameInfo Team
QB Kirk Cousins  $  6,400 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET WAS
RB Jordan Howard  $  6,300 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET CHI
RB Carlos Hyde  $  4,600 CAR@SF 04:25PM ET SF
WR Terrelle Pryor Sr.  $  6,100 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET WAS
WR Michael Crabtree  $  6,000 OAK@TEN 01:00PM ET OAK
WR Mohamed Sanu/Kevin White  $  4,200 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET ATL
TE Delanie Walker  $  4,300 OAK@TEN 01:00PM ET TEN
FLEX LeSean McCoy  $  8,200 NYJ@BUF 01:00PM ET BUF
DST Texans  $  3,800 JAX@HOU 01:00PM ET HOU

Yes Kirk, we like that…

The Stacks

Another common method for all sports in DFS is taking advantage of a cushy match-up and/or games that project to be high scoring affairs. When these hit the payoffs can be huge especially if you stack a relatively sneaky stack like the 49ers this week. That’s right. I said it. The 49ers. You won’t…

Steelers Stack

With Martavis Bryant back the Steelers have the full band back together just in time to release their first hit record in a potential blood bath against the lowly Browns. This is more of a mismatch than if Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine were producing against Robert Van Winkle and Rick Astley.

Position Name Salary Game Info Team
QB Ben Roethlisberger  $  7,300 PIT@CLE 01:00PM ET PIT
RB Le’Veon Bell  $  9,800 PIT@CLE 01:00PM ET PIT
RB Carlos Hyde  $  4,600 CAR@SF 04:25PM ET SF
WR Antonio Brown  $  8,800 PIT@CLE 01:00PM ET PIT
WR Martavis Bryant  $  6,000 PIT@CLE 01:00PM ET PIT
WR Marquise Goodwin  $  3,200 CAR@SF 04:25PM ET SF
TE Zach Ertz  $  3,500 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET PHI
FLEX Austin Hooper  $  3,000 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET ATL
DST Texans  $  3,800 JAX@HOU 01:00PM ET HOU

They might have to insert the mercy running clock rule in Cleveland Sunday

Cardinals Stack

Take it from a life long Michigander that’s been subjected to decades of Lions football–this defense could be awful. Outside of Darius Slay and Ziggy Ansah there are holes everywhere, and a veteran unit like Arizona should be able to manage four offensive touchdowns making for a relatively sneaky stack Sunday.

Position Name Salary GameInfo Team
QB Carson Palmer  $  6,000 ARI@DET 01:00PM ET ARI
RB David Johnson  $  9,400 ARI@DET 01:00PM ET ARI
RB Carlos Hyde  $  4,600 CAR@SF 04:25PM ET SF
WR Larry Fitzgerald  $  5,900 ARI@DET 01:00PM ET ARI
WR J.J. Nelson  $  3,700 ARI@DET 01:00PM ET ARI
WR Terrelle Pryor Sr.  $  6,100 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET WAS
TE Zach Ertz  $  3,500 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET PHI
FLEX Jordan Howard  $  6,300 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET CHI
DST Texans  $  3,800 JAX@HOU 01:00PM ET HOU

David Johnson and company about to get nice in the D Sunday

Raiders Stack

The Raiders present a very affordable stack with great upside against a weak pass defense in a match-up with the Titans this week that has an over/under north of 50. As you might notice by now I’m also high on Carlos Hyde and Terrelle Pryor Sr., and will find ways to include them in most of my lineups this week.

Position Name Salary GameInfo Team
QB Derek Carr  $  6,700 OAK@TEN 01:00PM ET OAK
RB Marshawn Lynch  $  5,300 OAK@TEN 01:00PM ET OAK
RB Carlos Hyde  $  4,600 CAR@SF 04:25PM ET SF
WR Amari Cooper  $  7,200 OAK@TEN 01:00PM ET OAK
WR Michael Crabtree  $  6,000 OAK@TEN 01:00PM ET OAK
WR Terrelle Pryor Sr.  $  6,100 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET WAS
TE Zach Ertz  $  3,500 PHI@WAS 01:00PM ET PHI
FLEX Jordan Howard  $  6,300 ATL@CHI 01:00PM ET CHI
DST Texans  $  3,800 JAX@HOU 01:00PM ET HOU

Having not only football but Beast Mode back too just warms the heart

Too Cute?

Super duper long shots that I may sneak into a few lineups if I’m feeling the itch at 12:58 Sunday afternoon:

  • TE Zach Miller – $2,800
  • TE George Kittle – $2,500
  • WR Deonte Thompson – $3,000
  • WR ArDarius Stewart – $3,700

Week One 5 Locks

  1. Steelers -9.5
  2. Falcons -6.5
  3. Redskins -1
  4. 49ers +5 (just moneyline them)
  5. Seahawks +3

Good luck in week 1! Don’t forget to like, share, and follow me on twitter and instagram @realBobbyAdcock. And make sure to check out all things sports at Fact Fiction Fantasy.
